Longest Running B’dway

With the closing of Take Me Out at 355 performances, Rupert Holmes’ Say Goodnight Gracie (Tony-nomination, Best Play) has become for all time the longest-running Broadway play of the 2002-2003 season, with 364 performances and 28 previews on The Great White Way and nothing this season is close to matching that record! Rupert sings Sinatra at
"The Four Seasons"
At a recent black-tie dinner event on behalf of The Johnny Mercer Foundation at New York’s glamorous landmark, “The Four Seasons” restaurant, Rupert Holmes gave a rare singing performance of a song he didn’t write. The dinner honored lyricists Marilyn and Alan Bergman, and Rupert sang a smoothly swinging rendition of their classic Sinatra hit, “Nice and Easy” with Tex Arnold on piano and Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar to end the evening. Earlier, he accepted the Johnny Mercer Award on behalf of the Bergmans, whose musical Like Jazz with Cy Coleman and Larry Gelbart was in previews in Los Angeles, and delivered their acceptance speech to the distinguished audience. Renee Fleming Has Holmes Take Bow at Carnegie Hall
Rupert recently experienced his first Carnegie Hall “bow from the audience” when international opera and recording star Renée Fleming performed his classic “Moonfall” from The Mystery of Edwin Drood at a sell-out concert at the legendary venue. Following an ovation from the audience for her rendition, Ms. Fleming introduced Rupert (the only living composer on a bill that included the works of Mozart, Massenet, and Puccini) and asked him to stand and acknowledge the audience’s enthusiastic applause. Ms. Fleming recorded “Moonfall” on her recent Under The Stars CD and a companion DVD, and is scheduled to reprise it again this spring at The Kennedy Center. TE See Amazon for CD or DVD
Random House Publishing
Moves Up Release Date of
“Where The Truth Lies”
In Paperback To June 8!
Noting that among its many raves, Holmes’ critically-acclaimed debut novel was also pronounced a gripping summer read by the likes of USA Today, Newsweek, Esquire and Entertainment Weekly, Random House has advanced the paperback release date of this “narcotically-addicting thriller” from mid-August to June 8. The book will sport a striking new cover and (as a bonus) feature the first few chapters of Holmes’ next novel of intrigue, Swing, scheduled for release early in 2005. TE
