"SWANGO" Opens April 30th!

(Photo: Paul Undersinger) Swango, the stunning dance fusion event that features world champion Swing and Tango dancers in a breathtaking evening, innovatively choreographed by Mariela Franganillo and Robert Royston, with an original story scripted by Rupert Holmes and directed by Tony Stimac, will premiere at the White Plains Performing Arts Center on April 29. This edition of Swango will be a considerably expanded version of the production that was a tremendous success at the Helen Hayes Theatre Company in 2003, with new cast members, new scenes, new plot twists and, of course, new dance numbers by the award-winning cast. This production is slated to be seen at Queens Theatre in the Park (commencing May 13), with an eye on Manhattan. —GT

Bacon, Firth, Lohman Complete Filming of Holmes' First Novel

Filming has been completed for the motion picture adaptation of Rupert Holmes' critically-acclaimed novel Where The Truth Lies, starring Kevin Bacon (Mystic River), Colin Firth (Bridget Jones's Diary), and Alison Lohman (White Oleander & Big Fish). Principal photography took place in Los Angeles, Toronto and London. The film is directed by Academy Award-nominated Atom Egoyan, whose previous motion pictures include The Sweet Hereafter and Exotica.

In addition to the three leads, the cast includes (in alphabetical order) Kristin Adams, Sonja Bennett, Rachel Blanchard, Maury Chaykin, Rebecca Davis, David Hayman, Shannon Lawson, Michael J. Reynolds, Anna Silk, Vee Vimolmal, and Kathryn Winslow. The film is currently being edited, and its producers are anticipating a Fall 2005 release.—LA

Frank Gorshin returns to "Say Goodnight Gracie"

On January 4, 2005, award-winning actor Frank Gorshin stepped back into the shoes of George Burns, the role he created on Broadway in Rupert Holmes' Say Goodnight Gracie. The show and its playwright won both the National Broadway Theatre Award for Best Play 2004 and a Best Play Tony nomination. Frank Gorshin is now well over 600 performances since the show debuted on Broadway and will be touring the country throughout 2005. Actor Jamie Farr did a commendable job in the same role while Frank Gorshin took a well deserved vacation. —LA
