A "season on location" goes out with a bang as
Texas Woman's University presents a hilarious evening of mystery and
mayhem in a dinner theatre production of Rupert Holmes' ACCOMPLICE.
Dinner performances are April 15 and 16 at 7:00 p.m. and April 17 at 21:00
p.m. at Metropolitan Catering, 932 W. University in Denton. General
admission is $25 and includes dinner and performance. Student
specials are available at $15 for dinner and performance, or $5 for
performance only. Beer and wine will be available at no additional
cost. Reservations are required. For reservations, call
940-898-2020.
Directed by Veronica Parrish-McGruder, ACCOMPLICE
combines farce and intrigue for an evening of plot twists that both baffle
and delight. Holmes' masterful use of illusion puts even the
savviest of sleuths to the test, daring the audience to sort out an
ever-changing puzzle and solve one of the most intricate mysteries to hit
the stage since Agatha Christie. With murder, infidelity, and
downright deception at every turn, Holmes' witty and outlandish characters
weave a tight web of laughter and suspense from which no one can
escape. So wildly entertaining are the details of ACCOMPLICE's
conspiratorial plot that even the cast and crew are sworn to secrecy!
Cast of ACCOMPLICE includes Ben Derby, Lindsay
Huntoon, Brad McEntire, and Sherrie Wollenhaupt. The mystery of
ACCOMPLICE doesn't stop with the action. Jaymes Gregory's quaint
scenic design features surprises of its own, as do Joshua Scott Hancock's
costumes. Add crisp lighting design by Tom Stratton and Frances
Seman, tricky properties by Dennis Sloan, and mystifying sound design
by Kari Schouveller, and the puzzle is complete. Production staff
also includes Stage Manager Reginald Peters and Assistant Stage Manager
YharNahKeeShah Smith.
Rupert Holmes is best known for the hit song
“Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” and the Tony Award-winning musical, THE
MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. A devilishly clever comedy-thriller,
ACCOMPLICE was produced to critical acclaim on Broadway (starring Jason
Alexander and Michael McKean) in 1990 and has enjoyed numerous regional
productions. ACCOMPLICE has appeared worldwide, including
productions in Greece, Finland, Sri Lanka, and on the London
stage. ACCOMPLICE has been honored with an “Edgar Award” by The
Mystery Writers of America and a Dramalogue Award for Best Play.
