Cloud
Tectonics by José
Rivera Directed by Aimée Bruneau Nov. 18—December
17, 2005 The Showroom After a late night shift
at LAX airport, Aníbal de la Luna meets a sopping wet and very
beautiful hitchhiker named Celestina del Sol in a fantastic LA
Downpour. She is pregnant and says that she is 54 years old.
In one night (that seems to last for 20 years) Aníbal and
Celestina mesmerize each other, and discover the kind of love
that stops the heart as well as time. Rivera’s story drips
with sensuality and otherworldly sensations. The stories of
Aníbal and Celestina wrap around each other and become
knotted, slow down, speed up, and continue shifting within
Rivera’s urgent and lush elliptical language.

Stones in His
Pockets by Marie
Jones Directed by Jerry Manning December 2,
2005—Mar. 11, 2006 Lower Level QUIET ON THE
SET! In this tongue-in-cheek comedy two actors portray over 13
characters amidst a Hollywood film production that overruns a
“picturesque” Irish village. It’s not the first film to be
shot there. In fact one of the locals is a surviving extra who
appeared in The Quiet Man. Some villagers are so blasé about
the production that they laugh at the accent of the leading
lady played by an American movie star and burst into hysterics
during scenes depicting a bogus interpretation of Anglo-Irish
history. They aren’t so cavalier when they discover a local
teenager broken by an American dream that doesn’t apply to
him. Now that’s a wrap for the extras!
“Sad, hilarious, and irresistible”

God’s
Country by Steven
Dietz Directed by Sheila Daniels January
27—February 19, 2006 The Showroom God’s Country
weaves the Seattle trial of the white supremacist group called
The Order (based in the NW), the assassination of Jewish
Denver radio shock jock, Allan Berg, and the hate-filled
career of The Order founder, Robert Matthews, into a
fast-paced and emotionally gripping courtroom drama. First
commissioned by ACT 18 years ago, God’s Country has received
hundreds of productions around the world.
“Dietz intends his play to disturb playgoers, to
prod them into thinking seriously about the radical right as a
continuing phenomenon and not just as the occasional headline
or TV sound bite. It surely does that.”
—Seattle Times

The Kathy & Mo
Show: Parallel Lives by Kathy Najimy Mo
Gaffney Director TBA Dates: April 28—July 29th
Lower Level This series of feminist sketches
achieved cult status in its long Off-Broadway run. A
delightful and biting comedy for two actresses, the play
consists of hilarious scenes exploring the plight of women and
the pandemonium that ensues when the two sexes try to get
together. As intelligent as it is funny, Parallel Lives
provides a fresh take on the oldest battle of the human race.
“[A] romp with a feminist sensibility; it’s a humor
of the post-Lily Tomlin generation … Above all, Parallel Lives
is a smart, provocative show.”
—Variety
(Parallel Lives shows every Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday. All Performances of Parallel Lives will
begin at 7pm. No Gala. Cocktail beverages are available in our
Lower Level venue. All Ages Welcome).
The Mystery of Edwin
Drood, Book and Music
by Rupert Holmes Directed by John Langs March
31—May 13, 2006
The Showroom
This is a story about the disappearance of a wealthy,
popular young man. The Mystery Of Edwin Drood was the last
book Charles Dickens wrote, but it was left incomplete when he
died, taking the secret to his grave. What we are left with is
an unfinished novel, published in part, leaving all of
Dickens' readers to speculate on young Drood's fate. Rupert
Holmes’ rousing musical borrows the audience’s imagination to
solve the mystery on a nightly basis! There are over 13
endings to the show and the audience literally gets to choose
the ending!

The Birthday
Party by Harold
Pinter Directed by John Abramson June 23—July 23,
2006 The Showroom Stanley Webber is the only
lodger in Meg and Petey Boles' seaside boarding house. One
morning, while Meg and Stanley are bantering over breakfast,
she mentions that two visitors are coming to stay for the
night. Stanley grows apprehensive, sensing imminent danger.
His fears are confirmed when Goldberg and his partner McCann
arrive. Meg announces that it's Stanley's birthday, and even
though Stanley insists it is not, Goldberg demands a
celebration. After a few glasses of whiskey and a game of
blind man’s bluff, Stanley's birthday party turns into a
nightmare. Goldberg and McCann drag Stanley off to an upstairs
room, and by morning they've rendered him a mute! Watch one
man's hilarious and terrifying struggle to hold on to his
identity in this Kafkaesque comedy from one of England's
greatest modern playwrights.
