TWELFTH NIGHT

A year after THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD made its debut at the Delacorte Theatre in Manhattan's Central Park, Rupert returned with a musical score for a limited run of William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT as part of the summer tradition of free Shakespeare in the Park. The production was, like DROOD, presented by The New York Shakespeare Festival and the legendary Joe Papp. The classic comedy starred F. Murray Abraham, Peter McNichol, Kim Greist, Kathleen Layman, Tom Aldredge and the sublime Tony Azito as "Feste," who sang most of the songs created by the new writing team of Shakespeare & Holmes. Most of the creative team behind DROOD joined forces on this production: director Wilford Leach, choreographer Graciela Daniele, scenic designer Bob Shaw and costume designer Lindsay Davis.

In concert, Andrea Marcovicci has recently lent her remarkable voice to several of the songs from this score, while Rupert's own rendition of two of its titles can be heard on the Varese Sarabande CD "Shakespeare On Broadway."
